For too long Mental Health has been something of a taboo subject in parts of the church. Some poor theology combined with a general reticence to talk about mental health struggles has created an unhelpful culture.
In these studies, Ian skilfully helps us to address both these issues. He interweaves rich and rewarding Bible study with pastoral and medical wisdom.
This is a valuable resource which will help you more fully appreciate God’s loving desire for our mental wellbeing, and also help us practically support each other.

"Mental health and wellbeing are often in the headlines but rarely do we explore them in our churches. This small group resource draws upon a rich selection of Bible stories and prayerful reflection to help spark honest conversations in the Church. My hope is that Ian’s timely resource will help us foster a culture of greater vulnerability and support for one another."
Coping with my own physical health problems and supporting others who experience physical illness and disability is challenging enough; mental illness is too scary, too strange. How should I respond to my brother's or sister's mental illness? How does Jesus want me to love and serve people whose experiences of life seem to be so different from my own?
If we are serious about our discipleship, our role as ambassadors for Christ and citizens of God's Kingdom both individually and in our churches, this Mental Health Bible Study will equip us to think biblically about these questions, to learn from the scriptures and to step over the boundaries of ignorance, anxiety and stigma to truly love our neighbours as ourselves.
